Lena Daniels & Willow Gladue

Indigenous multi award winning country music artist Lena Daniels is apart of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and Global Country Music. Inspired by traditional old school country music she writes with her husband and plays guitar, ukulele and piano.

Willow Gladue is a Métis artist from Beaumont, Alberta, known for her singing, dancing (especially Métis jigging), and playing multiple instruments (fiddle, guitar, piano, drums). She gained recognition for her music, particularly her debut single “They’re Just Eyes,” and is a passionate promoter of her Métis culture alongside her mother, Felice.

Carla Jayne is an Edmonton-based singer-songwriter who uses her folk country roots to explore her small town upbringing and experiences. Her catchy melodies and timeless lyrics evoke the work of Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile and Joni Mitchell. Her FACTOR-funded debut EP, Chinooks and Sea Monsters, was recorded at Royal Studios and released in April 2024. Garnering radio play across Canada, including on CKUA and CBC, Chinooks and Sea Monsters earned a spot on the Edmonton Journal’s Fresh Tracks list of “10 Must-listen Albums from Edmonton Artists in 2024”. Building her experience while completing a Bachelor of Music from MacEwan University, she has performed at many Edmonton venues and festivals, including the Kaleido Arts Festival, the Station on Jasper, Skirtsafire Festival, CKUA, and Flying Canoe Colant. In 2021 she was selected by Tiny Lights Festival out of Ymi, , BC, to take part in their Ignites Series workshop. Graduating from MacEwan in 2023, she received the Victor-Osten Performing Arts Award as well as Best Traditional Studio Recording at the 2020 University of Lethbridge Audio Engineering Society Competition.

Paula Eve Kirman is a singer/songwriter who writes and performs music with a message.
She has been performing her original work in Edmonton for nearly two decades at a variety of festivals, social justice events, and cafes. She became interested in both music and social justice at a young age, in part due to being raised on her mother’s love of 60s folk music by the likes of Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Peter, Paul and Mary. After receiving her first guitar at 13, Paula immediately began to teach herself how to play and write songs.

Paula’s lyrics and poetry are especially known for having themes of social justice, and has been a contributing factor to a number of awards she has received for her activism including the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and The Human Rights Champion Award from the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights. Her songs have been finalists or semi-finalists in a number of competitions. In particular, “Summer,” about an unhoused woman, was a finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition.

She has since released three full-length albums: The Crow (2022, co-produced by the late Bill Bourne), Corners (2023), and Causes (2025), a compilation of Paula’s protest songs thus far.

For Paula, music is a way of reaching a wider and more diverse audience with her messages of peace, human rights, women’s issues, the environment, and other social justice themes. It is an extension of her life as an activist and community organizer, as well as her career as a journalist, photographer, and filmmaker.

Edmonton raised her, Germany shaped her, and somewhere between those two places Marie Fontaine found the voice she carries onto every stage—warm, honest, and always paired with the gentle strum of her ukulele.

She’s been wrapped up in music for as long as she can remember: standing on choir risers, tucking Kiwanis ribbons into her backpack, blowing flute notes into echoey practice rooms, and marching with Edmonton’s All-City Band. Then, in 2009, she scribbled out a song just to see what might happen—and ended up opening the door to more than 200 originals.

Since returning to Edmonton in 2015, she’s become a familiar face in the city’s creative corners. You might spot her at open mics like Frank’s, Square One, or The Carrot, leaning in close to the mic with a story-filled tune, or hear her ukulele drift down 124 Street while she busks on a sunny afternoon. She’s also lit up paid stages across the city, from the YEG Christmas Market (2022–2025) to the 104 Street Market. In fall 2025, she took her songs down the road to the Bow Valley Music Club and the Calgary Folk Club, meeting new listeners with that same easy warmth.
Marie keeps pushing her craft forward—diving into the Write On! Deep Dive and Roadmap to Release programs (2024–2026), joining the Prairie Song Alliance, and even soaking up songwriting wisdom on a retreat in Nashville with Andrea Stolpe.
Her music has been finding its way into the world piece by piece: her debut EP The Real Commonwealthgirrl (2021), the cozy glow of her holiday single “Christmas Time” (2021), the indie-pop-country twist of “The Proof” (2024), and “By the Sea,” featured on Sing It, Edmonton: Songs From the Neighborhood with the Edmonton Public Library (2025).

And just recently—on November 1, 2025—she stepped into Wheel House Sound in High River with producer Paul Zacharias to record a brand-new single set to land in the new year.

These days, Marie Fontaine is simply following the joy of it all: one song, one stage, one small, unforgettable moment at a time.
