There is nothing more challenging and rewarding than getting to know nature through paint and becoming one with the world around us. Setting up an easel in front of the subject, slowing the mind, and becoming fully absorbed in the surroundings is both grounding and exhilarating. Most of the works in this show were created on location, in landscapes spanning from Ontario to Alberta.

Artist statement

Through direct observation and engagement with the environment, I am looking to realize the essence of life. No frills, or embellishments, only the very soul of it. With a brush, pencil or a charcoal stick, I am in search of the truth.

About the Artist

Irina Grobman

Irina Grobman

Irina Grobman is an award-winning professional artist who recently relocated from Ontario to Alberta. Originally from Ukraine, she moved to Canada in 1999 and has proudly called it home ever since.

Working in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, Irina explores a wide range of subjects and styles. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge through teaching at the Irina Grobman Art School and as an in-demand guest instructor.

Her work has been featured in numerous juried exhibitions and has received multiple awards. An avid plein air painter, her piece The Bird Man was a finalist in the 2022 McMichael Plein Air Competition, earning an Honorable Mention and being exhibited at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
