The theatre is located in the lower level of the building. There is a ramp on the north side of the building next to the car park, or an elevator located inside the top, street-level floor.The car park has reserved spots for people with disabilities.
The public washrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Memory Play by Cat Walsh

An excerpt from Cat Walsh’s new solo show Memory Play. Using Cat’s own childhood memories as a jumping off point, the play explores the nature of memory and the many ways we shape what we choose to remember and what we choose to forget.
Cat is an Edmonton-based theatre artist whose work has been seen on stages across Canada. As a playwright she uses dark comedy with elements of horror and the supernatural to explore themes of trauma, isolation and redemption. She has been a finalist for the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama, a finalist and a winner of the Alberta Playwriting Competition, and has been nominated for multiple Elizabeth Sterling Haynes awards as both a playwright and performer. Her plays include Fetch, POLO, The Laws of Thermodynamics, eleven-oh-four, and The Feast of All Saints. Her play Do This In Memory of Me is published by Playwrights Canada Press. Cat is a graduate of the University of Ottawa.

Co- Collaboration with Shyanne Duquette, Skye Demas, Mika Boutin and, Colin Bluekens to further the development of a new work by Shyanne Duquette. An excerpt from the larger piece Fawn.
Shyanne Duquette is a mixed-Cree emerging multidisciplinary theatre artist based in Amiskwacî (Edmonton). As a writer, director, actor, and arts facilitator, Shyanne is passionate about community-engaged processes and frequently explores themes of community, identity, and otherness in their work. They have collaborated with theatre companies across Turtle Island, including Concrete Theatre, Alberta Playwrights Network, The Major Matt Mason Collective, Common Ground Arts, Tarragon Theatre, and The Citadel. As an independent artist, they have also contributed to various festivals such as Skirts A Fire, Edmonton Fringe, Folk Fest, Nextfest, and Ignite taking on roles ranging from supporting individual performances to broader administrative responsibilities.
Skye Demas is of Cree, Ojibway and Dakota Sioux descent. Graduating from Victoria School of Performing Arts, she is a dancer, actor, performer and choreographer. Performing dance in many Arts festivals since the age of seven, Punctuate Theatre, Alberta Aboriginal Performing Arts, SOAR Aboriginal Arts Program to name a few. She also has eight years of competitive dance training in various styles with competitions leading her to travel to places like Vancouver, Phoenix, Arizona and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Having trained in workshops with many different choreographers and teaching with Nimihitotân, Skye is excited to offer what she has as an upcoming artist.
Colin Bluekens is a professional actor with 16 years of experience and a proud member of the Edmonton community. He has done productions for the Edmonton Fringe Festival, Nextfest, University of Alberta, and The Alberta Worker’s Health Centre! You may have seen him recently in the U of A production of “Waiting For Godot” playing the role of Vladimer or in a recent commercial for AGLC. Colin has a passion for comedy and voice acting, but has always enjoyed theatre for its collaborative nature and the unique experience of performing art for a live audience. In his downtime, Colin likes to spend time with his partner, go the gym, and scour youtube for obscure videos!
Mika Boutin (she/ they) is a queer playwright, director, and intimacy coordinator working and living on amiskwaciwäskahikan. This year, her first full-length play, TELEVANGELISTS, premiered as a reading in Nextfest’s Playwright’s Weekend and Worshop West’s Springboards Festival. Recently, she directed her first full-length play, Morning by Simon Stephen and directed Dog Bite Theatre Company’s inaugural production of Your Heart Is Gushing Lavender as a part of the mainstage series for Nextfest 2024. Select Intimacy Coordination credits include Flicker and They Promised Her the Moon for A3 Theatre Company, The Prom for Nuova Vocal Arts, Practically Perfect Pitch for Top Bunk Theatre, Ryde Like Hell for NextFest, ABBEDAM’s production of One Man, Two Guvnors, and Fool’s Gold for Light in the Attic Productions. She hopes this excerpt from Shyanne’s beautiful work spurs conversations as you leave the theatre today.

A cabaret filled with pop, musical theatre and original pieces. We explore a summer filled with existential crisis and how picking up rocks changed that, if only a little.

Blending words of poetry with original music and sounds inspired by artists across the Black Diaspora, Timiro and Kija’s neo-soul, jazz and R&B-inspired sound transport the audience to a world made in the image of the storytellers before them. “Dripping in gold and adorned in home”, there’s is a sound cast in Black girl magic. Kija Lado is a South Sudanese multidisciplinary artist and musician born and raised in Amiskwaciwâskahikan. She blends soulful vocals and honest storytelling with a genre-bending sound to make both herself and others feel, know, and be known.
Edmonton’s former youth poet laureate, Timiro Mohamed is a Somali-Canadian, multidisciplinary artist and anti-racism educator using storytelling to carve new pathways to liberation. Part prairie girls, part diaspora daughters, Timiro & Kija draw from a sacred lineage of East African & Black Femme dreamers who dared to create worlds with the stroke of a pen, a sip of tea, and a belly laugh. The living room lights are on, the couch is endless. Pull up a seat, come be witnessed.
