The student will be responsible for seeking out and scheduling volunteers for the festival Box Office and Concession, training all scheduled volunteers, and creating and managing tracking documents for ticket and concession sales. The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the Managing Director, Festival Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure all Box Office and Concession duties are clearly communicated to all volunteers, and that all volunteers are treated with respect.
Skirt Design Competition Coordinator
This student will work closely with the Artistic Director and the Managing Director to devise a theme and design parameters for the competition. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a submission form and online application, researching and contacting and promoting to potential participants, creating the competition timeline, setting deadlines, sourcing celebrity judges, and formatting the competition.
Marketing & Sales Assistant
Working closely with the Managing Director, the successful candidate will sell program advertising space, support festival marketing efforts, run social media campaigns, and source opportunities to connect with the broader community. Responsibilities will also include monitoring and measuring success of marketing strategies.
Assistant Venue Manager (Front of House and Production)
This student will work closely with Festival Staff, the Box Office Manager, and Concession Manager to prepare for the upcoming festival and ensure operations run smoothly during the festival at our Cabaret Theatre in the Alberta Avenue Community League.
The Concession Manager will be responsible for planning and ordering stock, tracking inventory, training concession volunteers, planning the layout of the concession, and making and updating spreadsheets to keep track of inventory and sales. The Concession Manager will be on site during the festival to run concession with a volunteer and will be working with money and reporting sales daily.
Assistant Visual Art Coordinator
Working closely with the Visual Art Curator, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing the execution of a visual art exhibit, networking with professional artists and arts administrators, assisting the Nina Gallery Venue Technician in set-ups and strikes for events in the space, and helping ensure the success of a multidisciplinary arts festival.
This student will work closely with festival staff to ensure festival productions and venues run smoothly. Tasks include updating the festival staff contact sheet, assisting with venue set up and strike, working with the Production Manager, Technical Director, technicians, Artistic Director, and Managing Director to make sure events run smoothly and on-time, assisting with show-flow for high-attendance events, creating a binder and/or USB for future festival management, assisting with sourcing, purchasing materials, picking up materials for festival as required, installing banners for bridges and outside of venues, and working with technicians to build the theatre space, cabaret space and the gallery space(s).
Venue Technician Assistant
The role will involve support for our full time venue technicians. Duties include assisting in the set up and strike of festival venues and events, covering technician shift breaks, and assisting technicians during daytime events and evening cabarets.
The successful intern will work closely with festival staff to capture festival events and happenings, including capturing photos at fundraisers, live events, and pre-production set up and rehearsals. Photos will be archived for use by the festival for marketing, granting, and publicity purposes. Credit for photo use will be listed appropriately.
