SkirtsAfire hopes to receive submissions from people of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, especially considering that the theme for the 2018 festival is International Women.

The perfect man. The perfect romance. Karin Maynard is on vacation when she meets the handsome and attentive Markus Richter. But back home in Cold War Germany, things are not so simple. If emotion can be manufactured, how do you ever really know if you are loved? Based on a real program in East Germany in which West German secretaries were targeted and psychologically profiled to determine their ‘perfect man’. The Stasi identified the man who looked right, who could be coached, and that man was sent to develop a long-term relationship with the target. Half romantic comedy and half spy-thriller, The Romeo Initiative is a journey into the heart that leaves audiences gasping.
SkirtsAfire is a multi-disciplinary arts festival that features the work of women. 2018 marks the 6th year of the festival.
ACTORS
Karin: (Any Ethnicity) 35-50 years old. Karin is a romantic who has resigned herself to a life alone. She is intelligent, quiet, and unassuming.
Lena: (Any Ethnicity) 20-35 years old. Lena is confident and cynical. She knows what she wants and will do anything to get it.
Markus: (Any Ethnicity) 30-45. Markus is charming and manipulative on the outside, conflicted on the inside.
This production will be an ITA CAEA contract with 5 weeks for rehearsal and performance. Actors must be available full time for rehearsals from February 6 to February 28, and performances March 1 to March 11, 2018.
